Fallout 76 Mothman Eggs
Fallout 76‘s post-apocalyptic West Virginia is a mean place with few friends. Instead of getting your face chewed off by snallyghasters, why not spend time with the adorable Mothman? I’ll show you how in this video.
The Mothman can be randomly found throughout the game world, but the chance of an encounter is low. Instead, there’s a surefire way to summon him. If you head east of Vault 76 to Landview Lighthouse at night, there’s a chance you’ll get to participate in a special event called “The Path to Enlightenment.” You (or any friendly players who show up) need to kill 50 fireflies and use their bioluminescent fluid to activate the lighthouse. It’s a pretty quick process that you can even pull off solo. If you do, you will summon the “Wise Mothman.”
This is a friendly and harmless version of the Mothman, and you can hit the interact key to commune with him. This grants the “Wisdom of the Mothman” buff, which gives you plus five percent experience gain for one hour. It’s a useful buff for starting out, and the event is right near the vault, which means you can grab it for some early leveling.
Players have been hunting down other Mothman variants and creatures throughout the West Virginian wasteland, but if you can’t wait to meet this cute cryptid, it’s worth hiking to the lighthouse or fast traveling whenever you see the event is live.
Fallout 76 Mothman Poster
The Cult of the Mothman was a pre-War Religious faction in Appalachia that worshiped the Mothman. The Cult of the Mothman faction offers unique faction-specific apparel you can unlock, as well as other bonuses.
To join a faction, you must simply find the faction quest-giver and take their quests.
Currently, there isn’t a way to join the Cult of Mothma but only to locate its base within the Mothman Museum and learn a few information on its backstory and lore.
This place can be found in the forested area near the northwestern border of Appalachia, right near the map marker for Point Pleasant.
Once on-scene, head up to the building and search for a way in. The front door is a level two lock, so most players shouldn’t have too much trouble getting inside. Within they’ll be a somewhat disturbing sight: a full-blown altar to the Mothman, rounded out by just the right amount of creepy trinkets and decorations. There’s a fair bit of lore to be found here, too, all pointing to a ritual that took place just a day before the bombs dropped.
There are various Mothman posters on the walls and a miniature statue of the Mothman in a window cabinet. Inside the Mothman Museum, You will find plenty of items such as the Mothman Cometh, mask and Note from Miller.

If you want to join the Cult of the Mothman, it seems no possiblity now. Maybe it will become a joinable faction some day.
Fallout 76 Wise Mothman
To start off with, if you want to find the Mothman make sure you’re in the Point Pleasant town, which can be found on the map thanks to its rather large Mothman museum sign. Encounters with the Fallout 76 Mothman are random, so you’ll want to keep exploring the area – especially in the wooded area east of the river – until you come across it. Don’t worry if you do see it, though, as it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be in for a fight: the Mothman won’t attack you unless you start firing at it. So try to be nice at first, ok?
Its eyes have three colours which’ll tell you how the Mothman is going to act: red means it’s aggressive, yellow is wary, and purple is passive, so it won’t attack you. Chances are that if you run into it in the wilds it’ll teleport away without trying to fight, but here’s a couple of things you need to know if you do fire a few pot shots at it.
The Mothman has just two attacks, and they’re surprisingly easy to avoid. When it’s hovering a few feet off the ground it’ll fire spit projectiles (ew), and be warned: it’s able to dodge to the side pretty very quickly, so if you’re trying to attack it up close with melee you’re going to want to time your swings carefully. The second attack is easy to spot, as it’ll let loose a massive blue energy shockwave when it wraps its wings around its body. Just get out of the way by running away and attack from afar. Simple, right?
The Fallout 76 Mothman has around 1000 HP, and has 150 energy, damage, and radiation resistance, which goes up to 250 when it’s level 45+. Speaking of levelling up, the Mothman comes in three other flavours that you can fight: the Dread Mothman (level 45), the Albino Mothman (level 55 – you’ll definitely want to get a photo with this beauty), and the presumably green Glowing Mothman (level 65).
